Mission: International Stage 1
Mission International
Stage 1: South American
June 10-18, 2008
The West Virginia Development Office invites you to participate in our Trade Mission to Brazil & Chile on June 10 - 18, 2008. These two countries have proven to be excellent markets for West Virginia products – sales to Brazil were up 56% and sales to Chile were up 65% in 2007.
While Brazil is a large and very diverse economy, it is rich in agricultural, mineral and industrial resources and offers substantial market opportunities for West Virginia companies. Chile, meanwhile, is one of Latin America’s most open, stable and attractive markets. In addition, since the U.S. – Chile Free Trade Agreement came into force in 2004, 97% of U.S. exports to Chile enter duty free, with all remaining tariffs to be phased out by 2015.
Best Prospects - Brazil
While all industries are encouraged to explore this market for potential business partners, the U.S. Department of Commerce indicates that the Brazilian market offers excellent trade opportunities in the following sectors:
- Airports & Aviation
- Medical Equipment
- Oil & Gas
- Mining Equipment
- Pollution Control Equipment
- Transportation Infrastructure - Ports & Rail
- Iron & Steel
- Travel & Tourism
Best Prospects - Chile
